HOTLINE is a voicemail performance platform that subverts traditional access to the arts, giving the audience a direct line to the show. The performance changes daily, harking back to late-night chat lines, rave location information services + times when phone-to-phone communication ruled. It seems that now, more than ever, connection to the arts is vital and needed by audiences across the world. This phone line is offering a space that is ‘offline’, doesn’t demand large time investment from the audience and leaves the listener with something to ponder for the day, the week, the month. The caller has a choice of voicemail performances that will change each day. Expanding the accessibility of this service, people also have the option to HOT-TEXT and receive a poem, short story or piece of text as a SMS artistic offering.
